Why does the app need Bluetooth?
Secure Digital Storage opens doors over the internet and, if you allow it, over Bluetooth as well. Both routes work at the same time. Bluetooth is often faster and more stable, because the internet connection inside a building is not always available. If one route is disrupted, the other takes over.
Higher resilience
Section titled “Higher resilience”The internet route has several links: your phone’s connection, the site’s internet connection and sedisto’s servers. If any of them fails, Bluetooth still opens the door, because the app then talks directly to the equipment in the building. That is why Bluetooth is the safeguard that gets you to your storage unit even when something somewhere is currently down.
Do I have to allow Bluetooth?
Section titled “Do I have to allow Bluetooth?”No, the permission is not mandatory. We still recommend it because it makes opening more reliable and faster. You do not have to change anything about how you use the app: Bluetooth is available throughout the building, you do not need to go anywhere in particular or keep any distance. Allow the app to use Bluetooth and keep Bluetooth switched on, that is all.
What happens to your data
Section titled “What happens to your data”The app uses Bluetooth solely for opening doors at your site. It does not scan for other devices around you, does not record your movements and does not pass any data on to third parties. The Bluetooth permission creates no data-protection disadvantage for you.
Changing the permission later
Section titled “Changing the permission later”You can grant or revoke the Bluetooth permission at any time in your device settings. For how to do this, see Change permissions.
