About the app

How does the app open doors?

Secure Digital Storage knows four ways to open a door. Which of them are available at your site depends on the installed locks; the app shows you at each door what is possible.

You tap the lock icon of the door in the app, and the app sends the opening command to the site over the internet. This works from anywhere, even when you are not on site, for example to open the door for a moving helper. At some doors you additionally confirm remote opening with fingerprint, face recognition or your device code.

If you allow the app to use Bluetooth, it additionally uses Bluetooth in the building, at the same time as the internet. This makes opening faster and more reliable and also works without an internet connection. More under Why does the app need Bluetooth?.

Some locks you open by briefly holding your phone to the lock, just like contactless payment. At such doors the app shows “Door opening via NFC”. This works on iPhone and Android and needs no internet; NFC must be switched on in your phone’s settings.

If your provider uses keypads, the app shows you your personal access code. You enter it on the keypad next to the door. The code helps when your phone’s battery is empty or you do not have it with you, so note it down once. If you have forgotten it, you can look it up in the app at any time.

The app shows you not only the door of your unit but all doors and gates on the way to it, for example the entrance gate, the building door or the elevator. You open each of these access points the same way in the app, provided it is locked.
